Review

Sharp looks and plenty of standard equipment add to the Jaguar E-Pace’s appeal, but an unsettled ride, below-par efficiency and poor reliability detract from the overall package. Ultimately, the Volvo XC40 and Range Rover Evoque are more comfortable, plusher inside and more practical, while also depreciating more slowly.

Much the same styling tweaks as R-Dynamic S, but with larger 19in alloy wheels.

This entry-level 161bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine is the only one available with front-wheel drive and a manual gearbox. It’s still not particularly efficient with high CO2 emissions and mid-40s mpg, and a best 0-62mph time of 9.8sec means it’s not particularly quick, either.
