Review

Sharp looks and plenty of standard equipment add to the E-Pace’s appeal, but an unsettled ride, below par refinement and poor reliability detract from the overall package. Ultimately, the Volvo XC40 and Range Rover Evoque are more comfortable, plusher inside and more practical, while also depreciating more slowly.

get the best price

Gets you bigger 19in alloy wheels, a powered tailgate, a punchier 380W Meridian sound system and extra safety kit over S trim. However, it does make the E-Pace a touch too pricey.

The 178bhp D180 diesel is the pick of the E-Pace range; its performance is more flexible than the less powerful D150. Meanwhile, if you want a diesel and performance is your primary concern, there’s a 237bhp option, but it’s expensive and not as economical as the others.
