The model
Read full reviewThe Jaguar F-Type Convertible is certainly a tempting prospect, especially with the gloriously noisy V8 sat under the bonnet. It looks good, offers exhilarating pace and handles tidily on a windy road. Even so, it's not quite as good or enjoyable to drive as its chief sports car rivals, so we’d look at the likes of the Porsche 718 Boxster instead.

See full engine specsOur favourite F-Type engine is the P450, a supercharged 5.0-litre V8 with 444bhp. It’s noticeably quicker and more muscular than the 2.0-litre, providing enough acceleration to pin you back in your seat, with a snarling exhaust note that turns into a guttural roar as you chase the red line. It’s available with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive and is markedly more expensive than the P300, but it feels significantly more special.
