Jaguar’s XF Sportbrake strikes a convincing balance between form and function, but iffy interior quality lets it downread the full model review

Disappointingly, the Sportbrake isn’t available with the XF saloon’s wonderful supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine. Instead, petrol buyers get this 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol unit. Happily, it is a smooth and quiet engine and still offers relatively decent economy and CO2 emissions compared with the more powerful diesels. The fact that the eight-speed automatic gearbox sends power to the rear wheels seems only right for this ‘sporty’ choice.
