The Jeep Avenger is an appealing small SUV, being stylish, good to drive and cheap to run. That said, Jeep’s poor reliability record gives reason for concern. There are also more practical alternatives out there.
The trim
This is the entry-level model and comes with 16in alloy wheels, air conditioning, cruise control, automatic windscreen wipers and keyless entry. There are a few option packs available, so you can add your essential luxuries without stepping up to the next trim level.
The engine
The petrol engine produces 99bhp from a 1.2-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol motor, and comes with with a six-speed manual gearbox or – if you go for the e-Hybrid version – an auto gearbox. The 0-62mph time is just under 11 seconds, so it's not particularly quick.
