The Magentis is up against some extremely talented opposition, and it's not priced as cheaply as you might expect. Leasing costs are sky-high so there's little chance you'll be offered a Magentis as a company car. Kia dealers aren't known for their discounts, but they'll need to be because resale values are awful.
Kia Magentis Saloon quality & reliability
There's a lot of hard, unappealing grey plastic in the Magentis's cabin, while the switchgear feels disappointingly clunky. Mechanical components should prove hardy, though, and there's always the reassurance of Kia's excellent seven-year warranty.
Kia Magentis Saloon safety & security
The previous Magentis was awarded a four-star rating in Euro NCAP crash tests, thanks partly to six airbags and active anti-whiplash head restraints. An alarm and immobiliser are standard, as are deadlocks to help deter thieves.
