The Kia Picanto is a fine small car, with a smart interior, tidy handling and, if you pick the 1.25 MPi 83 engine, decent performance and economy. A Hyundai i10 is a bit more polished in terms of ride and refinement, though.get the best price

Entry-level '1' trim is as bare as a derelict cottage – you don't even get air conditioning. It comes with steel wheels and a rudimentary infotainment system that doesn't even have Bluetooth, although you do get 60/40 split-folding rear seats, automatic lights, a trip computer, remote central locking and electric front windows.

This entry-level three-cylinder petrol is the one to go for if you want to keep things as cheap as possible. However, it's pretty gutless and has to be worked very indeed, so the 1.25 is worth the extra.
