The Kia Picanto is a fine small car, with a smart interior, tidy handling and, if you pick the 1.25 MPi 83 engine, decent performance and economy. A Hyundai i10 is a bit more polished in terms of ride and refinement, though.

Trim: Titanium Edition

You get 15in alloys, privacy glass, faux black leather seats, a reversing camera and a 7.0in touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone mirroring. However, you don't get important safety kit including automatic emergency braking.

Engine: 1.0

This entry-level three-cylinder petrol is the one to go for if you want to keep things as cheap as possible. However, it's pretty gutless and has to be worked very indeed, so the 1.25 is worth the extra.
