This entry-level trim isn’t as sparsely equipped as you might imagine. You get 17in alloys, air conditioning, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, automatic lights, a 7.0in touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a DAB radio and cruise control. It’s worth remembering, though, that metallic paint is the only optional extra, so if you want sat-nav, heated seats or an automatic gearbox, you’ll need to upgrade to KX-2.
The only engine available is a 2.2-litre four-cylinder diesel that is perfectly up to the job of powering the Sorento when it’s full of people and luggage. It’s a bit clattery compared with the smoothest diesels, but you rarely have to rev it hard, thanks to its muscular mid-range. Depending on which trim you go for, you can choose between a manual and an automatic gearbox.
