The model

Read full Kia Sorento review

The Kia Sorento is a brilliant seven-seat SUV and, while it's not a bargain, it offers truly fantastic practicality. Most buyers will be best served by the hybrid model, although the PHEV will appeal to company car drivers and the diesel is the one to go for if you tow large loads regularly. We think the entry-level trim – called Pure – is the best choice.

The engine

This 2.2-litre diesel engine is a great option for towing, being able to pull up to 2500kg. The engine can sound a bit grumbly at low speeds but it’s a strong performer that returns decent fuel economy.
