Stick to the lower trims and the Sportage is good value for money, comes with a decent amount of rear space and a decent boot. However, we think other Family SUVs, such as the Skoda Karoq, are better options. The Sportage isn't that comfortable, has noisy engines that aren't especially fuel-efficient, and the higher-spec models are very pricey.

Trim: 1

This entry-level trim doesn’t get many luxuries, but you get the basics including 16in alloy wheels, auto lights, a 7.0in touchscreen with a DAB radio, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, cruise control and a reversing camera. If you can we’d still upgrade to '2' trim, though.

Engine: 1.6 GDi ISG

The entry-level petrol engine needs working hard and isn’t very efficient. There are better petrol options available from its rivals, such as the Skoda Karoq.
