The model
Read full Land Rover Defender reviewThe Land Rover Defender is a rugged SUV that fuses fantastic off-road ability with decent on-road manners. If that's the blend of abilities you're after, it's effectively in a class of one. It's available in three body styles so you can have anything from five to eight seats. We think the 110 model in seven-seat form makes the most sense for larger families.
The trim
See full equipmentX-Dynamic models add a bit more visual appeal with a contrasting black roof and grey wheels and sit alongside the regular trim levels. This lower-spec S trim still comes with plenty of equipment, including 19in alloy wheels, part-electric adjustable front seats, keyless entry, 3D surround camera system and sat-nav.
The engine
See full engine specsThis straight-six diesel has 296bhp and more than enough low-down pull for effortless in-gear acceleration (on or off-road). It's good for 0-62mph in as little as 6.7 seconds, depending on which length Defender it's in. It's also pretty smooth and quiet, and comes with an excellent eight-speed automatic gearbox.
