Review

The Land Rover Discovery Sport, especially in seven-seat form, is far more practical and family-friendly than rivals such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, which is why it's one of our favourite large SUVs. Those German alternatives are ultimately more comfortable, nimbler and fuel-efficient, though, while you can get even more space for less with the excellent Peugeot 5008.

Only available with the D165 engine, you get niceties such as two-zone climate control, automatic LED lights, automatic wipers, 17in alloy wheels, ambient lighting, cruise control, a rear-view camera, automatic emergency braking, keyless start and a 10in infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto.

We’re yet to try this mild-hybrid assisted 2.0-litre diesel that represents the entry point to the range.
