Review

The Discovery Sport, especially in seven-seat form, is far more practical and family-friendly than rivals such as the Audi Q5 and BMW X3, which is why it's one of our favourite Large SUVs. Those German alternatives are ultimately more comfortable, nimbler and fuel-efficient, though, while you can get even more space for less with the excellent Peugeot 5008.

Trim: HSE

This top-spec trim comes with all the toys you'd ever need including keyless entry, a Meridian sound system, adaptive cruise control and 14-way electric seats. However, it's pricey and comes on big 20in wheels that don't help the low-speed ride.

Engine: 2.0 P250

The P250, with 247bhp, feels a fair bit brisker than the P200 and will pull off 0-62mph in 7.3sec, although neither of the petrol engines can match the low-rev pull offered by diesel Discovery Sports. This engine will be quite pricey to fuel.
