Review

Some rivals are faster and more fun to drive, but few are as comfortable or refined as the Range Rover Sport. We’d advise looking at a D300 or D350 diesel unless the P400e works for your lifestyle or bank balance. Stick to the lower trim levels, too, as costs soon shoot up.

As you’d expect given the name, this trim comes with uprated underpinnings to make the Range Rover Sport handle better on the road and be even more capable off it. In addition, 21in wheels are fitted, as are sporty touches such as steel pedals and gloss black exterior trim. Standard HSE trim is more comfortable and cheaper, though, so that’s what we recommend.

A petrol-fired 3.0-litre straight-six that is certainly brisk if you work it hard. However, the lazy low-down shove of the diesels feel more suited to the Sport.
