Review

The Velar has its faults but is a stylish, refined and seriously appealing SUV. It’s best to stick to the cheaper engines and trims, though; once you start moving farther up the range the price pushes into the realms of better-resolved cars, such as the Audi Q8 and BMW X6.

Trim: R-Dynamic SE

R-Dynamic pack brings dark wheels and sportier looks inside and out, including swish, satin-chrome gearshifters to the SE trim.

Engine: 2.0 P300

The P300 is punchy but requires plenty of revs before it really gets going. Rev it hard, though, and you won't find it very economical. It's better to stick to a diesel as a result.
