It’s best to stick to the cheaper trims and engines; once you start moving up the range, the price rises into the realms of better-resolved cars, such as the Audi Q8 and BMW X6.

Other luxuries include keyless entry, 18in alloy wheels, heated front seats, front and rear parking sensors and a 360deg camera. It's well worth considering because it keeps the costs down and you still get a great car.

See full engine specsThis plug-in hybrid can travel up to 33 miles on electricity alone and is also the fastest Velar in the range. It’s pretty pricey and not quite as effortless as the D300 diesel, though.
