The model
Read full reviewIf you're after supreme comfort, masses of passenger space, a lovely interior and a smooth and powerful engine, the sumptuous Range Rover will do it all. However, we think the entry-level D300 diesel Vogue is all you really need, with maybe a few choice options, or the P400e plug-in hybrid if you're a company car buyer looking to save on tax. That's because the cheaper Audi Q7 and BMW X7 are at least as good in most respects, and the top-end versions of the Range Rover are just too expensive unless money really is no object. In which case, why not have a look at the Bentley Bentayga. Just be aware that Land Rover's reliability record is pretty shocking.

See full equipmentLike the Westminster, this is basically an appearance pack albeit with 22in black wheels (the P400e gets 21s in black) and black exterior accents. Other than that it's basically 21in alloys, a suede headline and soft-close doors over and above Vogue trim.
The engine
See full engine specsThe P400e mixes a 296bhp 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 141bhp electric motor and 13kWh battery – just bear in mind the official combined output is 399bhp. It has low CO2 emissions and a 25-mile official electric range on a full charge, which means it'll pretty much halve the percentage of BIK company car drivers will pay. Just don't expect to achieve the official average economy of around 85mpg when the battery has run out. The four-cylinder engine cuts in smoothly and it's quiet most of the time but doesn't sound great when you rev it hard, but performance is strong, with 0-62mph taking 6.0sec. It can tow the least of any Range Rover, though, at 2500kg.
