The 2’s boot isn’t its best asset; it's smaller than the Fiesta and the Renault Clio’s.
Fold down the 60/40 split rear seats and the space is still less than these same rivals. Unfortunately, folding the rear seats isn’t possible on entry-level SE cars. In those versions where it is possible to fold down the rear seats, the boot floor is not adjustable and there’s a large step in the extended load area created by the folded seats.
What’s more, although Mazda says the 2’s boot opening is wider and squarer than ever before, it’s still not the largest of apertures and you have to lift things into and out of the boot across an awkwardly high lip.
