The Mazda CX-5 is one of the best large SUVs you can buy. Why? Well, it may not have the additional practicality of seven seats that a Peugeot 5008 comes with as standard, but it's well priced, very well equipped, safe and classy inside. Stick with the 2.0 petrol in entry-level SE-L trim for the best value for money, although the diesels are well worth a look if you do above average mileage.get the best price

It's packed with kit so it is our pick of the range. On the spec sheet you will find 17in alloy wheels, adaptive cruise control, power-folding door mirrors, LED headlights, driver’s lumbar adjustment, dual-zone climate control, privacy glass, front and rear parking sensors, 40/20/40 split-folding rear seats, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror and automatic lights and wipers. There’s also a 10.3in infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay/ Android Auto, plus lots of standard safety kit, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot monitoring and high beam assist.

This is the pick of the diesels. It pulls well from 2000rpm all the way to the red line and gets from 0-62mph in 9.9sec. It comes with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard and, with it, offers the best fuel economy in the lineup. You can have an auto 'box if you prefer.
