The model
Read full reviewThe MX-30’s relatively affordable, well equipped, comes with a smart interior and a pleasing ride and handling balance. However, its battery range is terrible and its performance is tardy, but if all you need is an electric car for pottering around town that shouldn’t be a big issue. But it’s a sizeable car on the outside, so it won’t be as easy to park as a city car like the Honda E, although it’s back seats are almost as impractical. So for a proper range, sparkling performance and family friendly practicality, we’d strongly suggest you spend a little bit more on the Kia e-Niro.

See full engine specsThe only option is a 36kWh battery powering an electric motor, which offers tepid acceleration (0-62mph in 9.7sec) and one of the worst battery ranges of any current EV: 124 miles (WLTP). A range extender – with a small petrol engine that charges up the battery as you go along – will join the line-up soon.
