Review

The Mercedes C-Class looks swish and the plug-in hybrid models offer really low CO2 emissions. There are roomier and more comfortable rivals, though

Entry-level SE trim is well equipped, with sat-nav, cruise control, climate control, heated front seats, artificial leather seats and automatic headlights and wipers all standard. Ride comfort could be better, though.

This 181bhp mild hybrid petrol engine uses electric boost for extra power and efficiency, but it’s surprisingly noisy, doesn’t feel as fast as its power and performance figures suggest and isn’t as efficient as equivalent units in competitors.
