What should I look for in a used Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class estate?
Despite the GLA's rugged bodywork, it’s still a good idea to check its extremities for scuffs. It’s unlikely to have been used off road, even the four-wheel drive versions, but it might be worth a cursory glance at the undersides just to make sure there’s no damage there. Also check the alloy wheels for any kerb damage.
What are the most common problems with a used Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class estate?
The engines seem to be quite strong, especially the diesels, although they were subject to a voluntary recall in 2017 to apply software updates to reduce NOx emissions. A lot of problems with the GLA seem to centre on build quality, and in particular non-engine electrics. These have caused minor problems with the sat-nav and starting the car.
Is a used Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class estate reliable?
According to our most recent reliability survey, it’s not great. The GLA finished well down the table in the small SUV class, with an overall score of 59%, putting it in 27th place in the group. Mercedes-Benz as a brand finished in a disappointing 23rd place out of 32 manufacturers.
