Review

The Mercedes GLC Coupe might look sporty, thanks to its sloping roofline, but it isn’t as fun to drive as the BMW X4 or Porsche Macan. It’s a comfortable companion on the motorway, although its ride can get flustered over imperfect surfaces, especially at slower speeds. We also wish the interior felt as good as it looked, and that you could add a few key options. Ultimately, if you want a Coupe SUV, the BMW X4 is a better bet.

Trim: Sport

This entry-level model gets climate control, LED headlights 18in alloys, heated front seats, keyless start, a reversing camera and cruise control. Infotainment is taken care of by a 10.3in screen with DAB, sat nav and advanced voice recognition. It’s the only model available with a towbar, yet it’s only available with the least powerful diesel engine.

Engine: GLC 220d 4Matic
