Passenger & boot space

How it copes with people and clutter

Two tall adults will have room to spread out in the front seats, while another two adults can sit in decent comfort in the back seats. There is a central rear seat, but it’s narrow and occupants have a large transmission tunnel to contend with. Six-footers will find their heads near – but not brushing – the ceiling, and their knees clear from the front seatbacks. Overall, rear space is similar to that of the rival BMW X4 and better than in the Porsche Macan. Of course, if you do need more headroom, there’s always the regular GLCBMW X3 and the Audi Q5.

All GLC Coupés come with four decent-sized door pockets and front passengers benefit from a large cubbyhole beneath the front armrest, as well as a sizeable cubby for keys and wallets beneath a flap in front of the infotainment rotary controller .
