Review

Some rivals are more practical and better to drive, but the Mercedes GLE has a dazzling interior, and on air suspension, is a comfortable cruiser.

This it the one and only trim choice for your GLE, but it comes with stacks of kit, including a widescreen infotainment system, heated leather seats and cruise control. Most options are part of expensive packs, though.

The range kicks off with the 300d, powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine. In our tests, it managed a very respectable 0-60mph time of 7.7sec, so offers very similar performance to the Audi Q7 45 TDI.
