Review

If you’re after a campervan that you can buy straight from a dealer with a full manufacturer’s warranty, the Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo is our number one choice. It’s not the cheapest to buy, but it has a feature-packed and plush interior that’s easy to convert from transportation device to living area. It’s good to drive and refined for a camper, too, making it a better bet than key rivals.

We wouldn’t bother with this top trim unless you really must have the 300d engine. Other than that, all you get are bigger 19in wheels, sports suspension and AMG styling touches inside and out.

Another 2.0-litre diesel, this time with 234bhp. That’s enough for a claimed 0-62mph time of 8.6sec with a negligible loss of efficiency.
