The Vaneo is too expensive compared with the extremely flexible seven-seat Vauxhall Zafira, and moving up the range exposes steep price increases. Economy is excellent, though, and insurance costs are reasonable. Residuals trail other Mercs.
Mercedes-Benz Vaneo MPV quality & reliability
Mercedes products should not break down or fall apart, even under the onslaught of family life. The Vaneo’s cabin is constructed from first-class materials and is certainly way ahead of rivals such as the Citroën Picasso. It’s unimaginative in terms of trim and colour choice.
Mercedes-Benz Vaneo MPV safety & security
Mercedes has taken every precaution to ensure that there’s no chance of a repeat of the stability problems of the A-Class family. Anti-lock brakes and ESP anti-skid electronics are standard. Security provisions aren’t quite as impressive, as Mercedes refuses to fit deadlocks, arguing that they could hamper rescuers after an accident.
