Read full MG ZS reviewThe MG ZS has a relatively upmarket interior, roomy rear seats, tidy handling and a long warranty. Extremely competitive pricing explains away a lot of its flaws, including its unsettled ride, but the absence of automatic emergency braking is harder to forgive. We reckon the cheapest 1.5 VTi-tech engine in Excite trim makes the most sense.

See full equipmentThis top-tier trim adds quite a bit to the price of the ZS but also some welcome luxuries, including ba uilt-in sat-nav, a 360-degree parking camera, heated front seats and blind-spot monitoring. You’ll struggle to find a rival for the same price that offers as much kit.
The engine
See full engine specsThe 1.0T-GDI has more low-rev pull than the entry-level 1.5 and is quieter, too. However, we don't think that quite justifies the significantly higher price.
