Extremely competitive pricing explains away a lot of its flaws, including its unsettled ride, but the absence of automatic emergency braking is harder to forgive. We reckon the cheapest 1.5 VTi-tech engine in Excite trim makes the most sense.

It’ll cover 0-62mph in just over 8.0sec, which isn’t all that brisk but fast enough that you won’t struggle to reach motorway speeds quickly.
