The news gets even better if you compare the Cooper S with the 2.0-litre version of the Mazda, because the Mini is cheaper and more powerful, yet still more efficient.

Cabin quality is typical Mini, which means some of the materials are impressively lush, while others look downright cheap. It’s all solidly assembled, though, and Mini usually does well in reliability and customer satisfaction surveys. We see no reason why that should change with the Roadster.
