The V8 under the Morgan’s bonnet is a BMW unit, and with 367bhp at its disposal, it dispatches the 0-60mph dash in just 4.5 seconds. The downside is the gearbox, which is far too slow to change in automatic mode. Use the manual override, though, and things are much more responsive and appropriate for the Plus 8’s pace.
Morgan Plus Eight ride & handling
You can have some serious fun in the Plus 8. The steering is a delight, responding sharply and accurately to the driver’s demands, while the car also displays strong grip, good balance and sharp body control. However, the ride is very firm indeed, so any sort of bump or pothole will give you a big jolt.
Morgan Plus Eight refinement
The V8 sounds glorious when it’s pushed, and is reasonably restrained once you’re up to cruising speeds. Road noise is never intrusive, either, but wind noise is – you hear it whistling around the plastic side windows when the roof is up, and there’s plenty of bluster with it down.
