The rarity of the Plus 8 means it should retain a significant proportion of its value, but it is very expensive to buy in the first place. Naturally the size and power of the V8 engine translates to high fuel consumption – the official figure is just 25.7mpg.
Morgan Plus Eight quality & reliability
The Plus 8’s interior doesn’t feel anywhere near special enough for a car with such a hefty price tag. The materials look and feel way too lacklustre, while the doors and plastic side windows feel unforgivably flimsy. The BMW engine and gearbox are tried and tested units, though, so they shouldn’t give any problems if maintained properly.
Morgan Plus Eight safety & security
The back-to-basics nature of the Plus 8 means there are barely any electronic aids to help you control all that power. Power steering and anti-lock brakes are present, but there’s no stability control. Twin airbags are also included as standard, but that’s it. The doors do lock, but the plastic windows and removable upper sections of the doors will not keep out a determined thief.
