2012 Honda Civic on video

Honda claims that its new Civic will be as refined as the class leaders.

It has released the third of a series of five videos to promote the all-new model today, and the latest one focuses on refinement.

Honda says that every aspect of the new Civic has been optimised to make it as quiet as possible on European roads. Particular attention was paid to the design and construction of the roof lining and how it interacts with the bodywork.

Making the Civic as aerodynamic as possible was also a key factor, it says, and everything possible has been done to optimise air flow over the car, to both reduce drag and improve high-speed stability.

Kazuo Sunaoshi, chassis development leader for the Civic, said: We did not improve the noise and refinement of the new Civic through just one technique. It was the accumulation of lots of little details.

My biggest challenge was to match the noise and vibration levels of our European competitors. I am proud to say that we have achieved our goals.

The new car will be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show next month.
