The 205mph Aston Martin V12 Vantage S is set to be the fastest Vantage yet, and the manufacturer's second fastest model behind the One-77.
It comes with a new naturally aspirated 565bhp 6.0-litre V12 engine, which is expected to cut its 0-60mph time to less than 4.0 seconds.
The engine is a development of the unit in the new Vanquish, which also develops 565bhp, but tweaks have increased the top speed and acceleration capability. There are also alterations to the energy regeneration technology, and the Vantage gets a lighter, smaller and more sonorous exhaust that's derived from the One-77.
Another big change is the introduction of a new seven-speed automated manual gearbox, which is lighter and quicker than the outgoing six-speed 'box.
Aston is also introducing a three-stage adaptive damping system for the first time on the Vantage. It will have 'Normal', 'Sport' and 'Track' modes that alter the stiffness of the suspension and the level of steering assistance. A separate 'Sport' mode will also alter the throttle response, gearshift speed and exhaust note.
To set it apart visually, the latest Vantage comes with upgraded styling, including carbonfibre touches on the front grille, 10-spoke alloy wheels and a black roof. Options include sport or lightweight carbonfibre seats, Alcantara upholstery and a Carbonfibre Interior Pack, which features the material on the fascia and door pulls.
Prices haven't been revealed, but the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S is expected to rise slightly over the current car's 136,085 starting point. Orders books will open later this year, with an international debut likely to take place at the Pebble Beach show in California in August.
