The second-generation Mitsubishi ASX will arrive in 2016.

What is it?

The ASX is Mitsubishi’s Nissan Qashqai-rival. It’s an important model for Mitsubishi because it aims to become the market leader when it comes to plug-in hybrid technology.

What engines does the ASX get?

Engines are yet to be confirmed but we expect there to be plug-in hybrid version which will arrive later in 2016 or early in 2017.

How much will the ASX cost?

It’s too early to say, but it is likely to stay close to the current model’s Β£15,000 starting price.

How good are its rivals?

The small SUV class is very competitive so the ASX has got its work cut out. The Nissan Qashqai is the current class-leader and will prove tough to beat. However, plug-in hybrid technology will set it apart from the rest of the class.
