That's why there's a new version, which will go on sale in the UK early next year. Revealed at September's Paris motor show, this second-generation Q5 isn't too far removed in its design from the current car, but that's where the similarity ends. It's smarter inside and out, lighter to the tune of 90kg and is based on the same underpinnings as our 2016 Car of the Year, the Audi A4 saloon.
In terms of engines, buyers will have plenty to choose from, including a range-topping SQ5 model powered by a 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine with 325bhp. The 2.0-litre TDI we've driven already is likely to be the top choice for UK buyers, though, and we've been impressed by its refinement and punchy performance.
