2017 BMW 5 Series reviewed on video
The BMW 5 Series is our Car of the Year for 2017 - so why's it worthy of that title? Watch our video review to find out...
Few cars are as eagerly anticipated in 2017 as the new BMW 5 Series.
This Mercedes E-Class, Jaguar XF and Audi A6 rival is a big seller for BMW in the UK, both with private buyers and company car drivers, and it's easy to see why. The 5 Series is a true luxury saloon - it's comfortable and relaxing inside, has enough space to take the family and their luggage on holiday and is bursting with convenience and safety technology, including the already excellent iDrive infotainment and navigation system.
As you'd expect there are plenty of engine combinations including fast petrols and frugal diesels, but our favourite version is the 520d, which offers the best balance of performance, price and running costs. There's a choice of two trim levels, too, but we'd stick with entry-level SE spec as it comes with all the essentials.
