If you’re in the market for a fun and reasonably priced small hot hatchback, we have some bad news: right now, your options are limited. Currently there’s no Ford Fiesta ST on sale, nor a Suzuki Swift Sport. What is out there – the Vauxhall Corsa VXR, for example – isn’t very good.
With that in mind, if you’re looking for cheap thrills, we’d point you towards this Ibiza 1.5. True, it isn’t a proper hot hatch, but it’s decently quick, a hoot to drive and looks the part. At £18,000, it’s good value, too, comes stacked with kit and, thanks to CO2 emissions of 112g/km and claimed average fuel consumption of 57.6mpg, won’t cost the earth to run.
In fact, other than the similarly excellent Fiesta 1.0 140 ST-Line, we can’t think of many reasons not to recommend it.
