2017 Volkswagen Polo – exclusive reader test team preview
Join What Car? for an exclusive preview of the new [Volkswagen Polo](https://www.whatcar.com/volkswagen/polo/hatchback/review/) on Monday 21 August 2017 in Wolfsburg, Germany...

We'll fly you to the Volkswagen factory, which you'll get a tour of, and conduct the Reader Test Team event on the day. You'll then stay overnight in a hotel and fly back to the UK the next morning.
If you're talking about small hatchbacks, the Polo is probably one of the first models that springs to mind, along with the Ford Fiesta and Seat Ibiza. Both of those rivals have recently been renewed, and to a very positive reception, so now it's the Polo's turn for regeneration.
It's bigger than before, now being the size of the Golf back in 2003, and has a new exterior look, a bigger, better-located infotainment screen and lots more personalisation options. Also, the three-door model has been discontinued.
A variety of engines are on offer, ranging from a naturally aspirated 64bhp 1.0-litre petrol to a 2.0-litre diesel.
Order books for the new Polo will open in October, with the first cars reaching customers in January 2018. Volkswagen hasn't released UK prices yet, but we'd expect a small increase on today's £12,600 entry point.
