Jeep refers to the Wrangler as a utility vehicle (or UV) rather than a sports utility vehicle (SUV) for a good reason – there’s nothing sporty about it. While performance isn't too shabby, it feels out of its depth should you corner it even moderately briskly.
Indeed, if you spend most of your time on the road, we’d think very carefully and take a long test drive before buying one. While some might think it charming in an old-fashioned kind of way, we suspect most will find it far too agricultural.
However, the Wrangler is much happier off the road than it is on it. With the demise of the Land Rover Defender, there probably isn't anything on sale that’s quite so capable off the beaten track.
