2018 Volkswagen T-Roc 2.0 TSI 190 review – verdict

We won’t beat around the proverbial bush; good though this range-topping T-Roc is to drive, it isn’t a great way to spend more than £31k of your hard-earned. Nope, if you’ve got this much cash in the bank and want a powerful petrol SUV, the Seat Ateca 2.0 TSI 190 FR offers far more for less.

But what if you’re buying on PCP finance? Well, put down a £3000 deposit and you’ll pay £500 a month over the next three years. That might not sound quite so terrifying, but the fact that an Audi Q2 with the same engine costs £412 under the same terms and the Ateca 2.0 TSI 190 FR will set you back a mere £396 makes this particular T-Roc impossible to recommend.

Our advice is either stick with the cheaper petrol models (particularly the 1.0 TSI but also the 1.5 TSI) or look elsewhere.
