The success of the Evoque has surprised even its maker, with more than 800,000 examples of the smallest Range Rover model having been sold since its launch in 2011.

For the second-generation Evoque, then, it's understandable that Land Rover has gone all out on the engineering front but remained relatively conservative in the styling department.

The new Evoque sits on an all-new platform, which is more rigid and thus said to improve both refinement and handling, as well as create more space inside for passengers and in the boot.

What's more, the family SUV has gained a new suspension set-up that should improve the ride quality.

A range of four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines will be available from launch and, on all but the cheapest 4x4 models, they gain 48V electrical assistance to improve efficiency. In addition, a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid model will be introduced next year.

Inside, the new Evoque has become even more luxurious, with plusher materials, and now replicates the design of the pricier Velar, including that car's dual-touchscreen centre console. The infotainment system itself is new, too.

If you're interested in the new Evoque, come along for an exclusive preview on Friday 25 January in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

You'll get a hands-on preview of the car, as well as a Q&A opportunity with the Land Rover team, before being interviewed for our magazine and website.
