2019 Suzuki Jimny - exclusive Reader Test Team preview
Join What Car? for an exclusive preview of the new Suzuki Jimny on Thursday 25 October in Feltham, Middlesex...
The last time a new Suzuki Jimny was unveiled was 21 years ago.
In that time, the supremely capable, back-to-basics micro-4x4 has developed a cult following here in the UK, primarily with those who live and work in the countryside.
Thankfully, then, the fourth-generation Jimny, which will go on sale at the start of 2019, has been modernised, rather than completely changed.
It's based on a strengthened ladder-frame chassis and retains its old-school rigid axle suspension set-up in order to retain its off-road ability. A 101bhp 1.5-litre petrol engine is standard, along with four-wheel drive and high and low-range gearbox modes.
The interior is tough as ever, but now looks plusher and can be specified with a 7.0in touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple and Android smartphone mirroring.
The boot has also grown by 53 litres.
If you're interested, come along and tell us what you think, on Thursday 25 October from 1pm, in Feltham, Middlesex. You'll get an exclusive hands-on preview of the car, as well as a Q&A opportunity with the Suzuki team, before being interviewed for our magazine and website.
