When was the last time a new car was surrounded by quite as much hype as the Tesla Model 3?

The American electric car maker was swamped with more than 300,000 orders within just a week of the BMW 3 Series-sized saloon's unveiling in early 2016.

It's now three years later and right-hand-drive exports are set to arrive in the UK this summer.

The first version of the Model 3 to go on sale here will be the Dual Motor Long Range. Priced from around £50,000, it has four-wheel drive, a 75kWh battery and an official range of 338 miles – the best achieved on the new WLTP regime to date.

There will also be the Mercedes-AMG C63-rivalling Performance model, which makes 444bhp and can get hit 60mph in a mere 3.5sec. Expect to pay around £60,000 for that one.

An entry-level model with front-wheel drive and a 50kWh battery, priced from around £30,000, is due to come later.

If you're interested in Tesla's new most affordable model, come along for an exclusive preview on the morning of Friday 4 January 2019 in Chiswick, west London.

You'll get a hands-on preview of the car, as well as a Q&A opportunity with the Tesla team, before being interviewed for our magazine and website.
