2021 Hyundai i20N verdict and specs
The Hyundai i20N is the Korean brand's second crack at a hot hatch – will it be as impressive as the first?...
The Hyundai i20N will get tiresome on a long journey because of the restlessly bobbing low speed ride, and the background din of tyre and exhaust noise. It is up-front and unapologetic about its frothing, bolshie character, though, and lives up to it with a fantastically fun, almost rally car-like zeal.
Most importantly, that playfulness is right there for you to revel in, even at normal speeds on typically scruffy British country roads. You might even compare the i20N to a dialled-back version of the mighty Toyota GR Yaris, which is our favourite hot hatch. Compliments don’t come much stronger than that.
When you add to that the excellent touchscreen infotainment system and decent practicality, we suspect it will easily justify a predicted price of nearly £25,000. Even with some specifics yet to be confirmed ahead of UK sales starting, there’s no doubt about it – the i20 just became very notable indeed.
