2021 Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 verdict and specs
The Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 combines rapid acceleration with seven-seat practicality in a relatively compact SUV. Can it impress on the road?...
Nothing else does precisely what the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 does, so if you want a seven-seat SUV that’s usefully smaller than expensive full-size alternatives like the Audi SQ7, and looks and feels satisfyingly fast and fun, go for it.
It's not just recommendable for filling a role that no one else thought to apply for, it's also a genuinely likeable and accomplished fast SUV whatever benchmark you choose to measure it against. The sub-£50k list price even looks like quite good value next to pricier alternatives including the BMW X3 M40i and Audi SQ5.
Even so, they lack the seven-seat versatility of the GLB 35, something that’s only really matched at this size and level of poshness by the Land Rover Discovery Sport. Even the P290 Discovery Sport doesn’t have the hot-hatch persona of the GLB 35, so if that’s your priority, this will tick every box.
