25 November – The good, the bad and the infotainment
In our Peugeot reviews we generally describe the infotainment offerings as neither amazing nor terrible. And living with one, I’d echo this lukewarm sentiment.
The touchscreen in my Peugeot 5008 responds quickly enough and it has a relatively simple layout. But there’s still some negatives which stop me feeling wholly positive towards it.
Having to adjust the climate controls through the screen is a well-documented frustration. And I’ve found the system sometimes glitches and freezes while using the Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring.
The ‘180deg’ camera that my Allure-spec car gets is a bit odd, too. It gives a birds’ eye view of the car with the top half of the screen greyed out when reversing.
Weirdly, though, the Peugeot 5008 screen is then filled out with the whole 360deg view once you’ve physically passed over the part of the image which was greyed out at the start.
I don’t really see the point of the 180deg offering. Especially as I can’t imagine it’d cost Peugeot much more money to just ditch it and only offer a 360deg camera.
