Overall

Performance

The Strada's menu system is painfully slow, which is a pain if you're in a hurry. Once you've programmed in a destination, the maps look great and keep up with the action reasonably well, and the spoken instructions are excellent.

Ease of operation

Menu system is nicely designed and the whopping 5in screen makes inputting addresses easy. The slow software does detract from the ease-of-use, however, and during testing we often found ourselves entering a new command while the sat-nav was still thinking about the previous one.

Buying

At 100 less than RRP (buy-at-sap.co.uk), the Strada is good value especially considering the huge screen. However, a TomTom Go 530 is cheaper and gets an FM transmitter (although European mapping will cost you more).

Quality

Classy looks and nicely finished unit. The cradle is super-solid and has loads of adjustments for fine-tuning screen angle.

Special features

Has European maps and Bluetooth, and the biggest screen of any unit. However, a TMC aerial will set you back the best part of 80 (Expansys.com) and there's no FM transmitter or MP3 player.
