A14 road project suspended in cuts

The major A14 improvement project near Huntingdon and Cambridge has been suspended in a round of spending cuts announced by the coalition Government today.
Shelving the project which was to run between the A1(M) and A11, and create a six-lane dual carriageway will save 1.1 billion.
The Government will now reassess the project in more detail before deciding whether to proceed.
More cuts to come?
The announcement of cancellations and suspensions is part of a wholesale 'review of inherited spending commitments', the Treasury said, and could mean more cuts for every Government department, including the Department for Transport.
What Car? believes the 230 million worth of grants for electric cars is safe, however, following discussions with insiders yesterday.
